Chiplet-based system integration for automotive applications

In the Chiplet4Future project, Fraunhofer IIS is developing an automotive chiplet demonstrator for exploring future chiplet architectures. This work focuses on chiplet system integration and the interaction between substrate technology and the Bunch of Wires (BoW) interface for high-density interconnect architectures.

Which trends will shape the circuit design of tomorrow?

Dresden was this year’s meeting point for the international EDA and IC design community as host to With SMACD 2026. In this interview, conference chair Dr.-Ing. Benjamin Prautsch talks about the key trends – from AI in chip design to new design methods and challenges for the future of semiconductor technologies.

How GaN is driving advances in the microelectronics

From electromobility to industrial automation, the reliability of semiconductors is a key factor in the success of future technologies. The research project »ZuverSichT« is developing new approaches to the targeted analysis of the service life and robustness of GaN semiconductors.

#Faces – Introducing Dr. Vineeta Jain, research scientist

In our series #Faces, we introduce you to the people at our division. What drives our employees on a daily basis to carry out research for the world of tomorrow – or to support such research through their work? Dr. Vineeta Jain, research scientist in the area of wireless IoT, gives us an insight into her work at Fraunhofer IIS in Dresden.

Discovering research, asking questions, trying things out for yourself

What does a microchip look like under the microscope? How do modern robots work? And what will be the role of artificial intelligence and digital twins in the factory of the future? At Dresden Science Night on June 26, 2026, we opened the doors of our division to provide insights into our labs and current research projects.
