From March 14 to 16, 2023, the Embedded World Exhibition&Conference was held in Nuremberg with the slogan “embedded. responsible. sustainable.” Here we provide a summary of the trends and impressions that our experts picked up at Embedded World 2023.

Chiplets are not only an important focus topic for our division but also a key technological development on the path toward technological independence. Thanks to a modular approach that leads to greater compatibility of semiconductor elements from various foundries, chiplets help to boost the independence of technologies.

The event also focused on the topic of sustainability in circuit design and in the energy consumption of microelectronics, as the industry seeks solutions to sustainably reduce the energy consumption of its circuits while achieving the same performance. In the future, the subject of sustainability will have an even greater presence, and all participants are called upon to propose solutions.

Another frequently discussed topic at the exhibition was artificial intelligence in electronic systems. Here, there is often still considerable uncertainty regarding use cases and business models. In our new AI Application and Test Center in Dresden, we’ll also be devoting ourselves to this topic – and we’re already working on corresponding new development and test methods.
