From renewable electricity generation to zero-emissions mobility or sparing use of resources and raw materials – sustainability has become an inseparable part of our everyday life, and plays an increasingly important role in political and economic decision-making. One of the key concerns for companies hoping to contribute to a more sustainable world is how they can simultaneously maintain or even increase their own competitiveness. Effective technology and innovation management help to identify, leverage, and extract additional value from trends and potential opportunities in the field of sustainability. For the 15th time, this year’s summit will bring together innovators, researchers, and decision-makers from a diverse range of sectors to jointly benefit from the know-how of technological and methodological experts. Keynotes, lectures, interactive podium discussions, and best-practice examples concerning the latest developments in the fields of technology and innovation management, as well as in the focus topics of Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence (AI), and the hydrogen economy, will provide the ideal setting in which to achieve this aim.

A diverse lecture and discussion program in four streams

Alongside modern methods and management processes, equally important are innovative technologies to enable the achievement of sustainability goals. An especially important role in this regard is played by artificial intelligence. Accordingly, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS will devote a stream to this focus topic on the second day of the event. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the stream will examine a highly topical range of issues such as applications in production, aspects of the explainability of AI, approaches to developing edge AI, and ethical questions surrounding these novel technologies. Participants will include experts from the Hong Kong Productivity Council, CLOUD&HEAT Technologies, Vattenfall, Infineon Technologies, Globalfoundries, and Fraunhofer.

As well as providing a space to exchange technical knowledge, this year’s Technology and Innovation Summit will once again give participants the opportunity to engage in dialogue both with the experts and among themselves. The speakers and other experts from the fields of AI innovation, Industry 4.0, and hydrogen innovation will be available on the sidelines to discuss unanswered questions in bilateral expert talks. Registration for the virtual Technology and Innovation Summit is open until June 22. The event language is English. More information and the current event schedule for both days are available here: https://invention-center.de/ti-summit.
