On June 23, 2017, the VDI will dedicate a "Special Day" to predictive maintenance in the industry. Led by Fraunhofer IIS/EAS, this seminar will focus on innovative maintenance strategies and demonstrate the competitive advantages through intelligent condition monitoring. Executives and employees from the areas of production, maintenance, and quality assurance are provided with a specific checklist for the introduction of predictive maintenance in their companies. The EAS will also incorporate the training into its training portfolio and offer it to interested companies even beyond the special day.

Even in today’s production, countless data is collected, but it is often not adequately evaluated. However, the potential that can be raised through targeted use is enormous. For implementation of data based predictive maintenance, facts such as the reduction of unplanned downtime by up to 70% and the savings of about 30% of the maintenance costs speak for themselves.

During the VDI Special Day, participants and their companies will learn about dealing with challenges related to the topics of industry 4.0, networked production processes, so they can prepare for the future. Much of the focus will be on automated analysis of measurement and process data for intelligent condition monitoring. The participants learn how to choose the appropriate maintenance strategy for their company and how they can benefit from self-learning systems that automatically recognize the structures in measurement data. Various examples illustrate the practical application possibilities.

The seminar is aimed at executives and employees who want to get familiar with topics such as industry 4.0 and big data, or who want to evaluate the options of predictive maintenance methods. The Special Day takes place in Salzgitter following the 38th VDI/VDEh Maintenance Forum 2017. VDI offers a discount for joint booking of the forum and the Special Day. In addition, EAS will also offer the seminar as an individually bookable training session for interested companies – either in Dresden or directly at the company's location.
