Project Goals

Components for control devices in vehicles are subject to uniform requirements specified by automotive manufacturers, who define the loads, stresses and operating conditions under which a component must function reliably. The results of ResCar will make it possible for the first time to reliably and verifiably integrate robustness into the early design of these parts. The work is focused in particular on aging effects, temperature influences and voltage fluctuations. These aspects are particularly important for taking into account the increasing sensitivity of new technologies. ResCar will also make an important contribution to making electric vehicles just as powerful, safe and comfortable as conventionally powered vehicles.

Approach

In order to better satisfy the increasingly complex requirements of the manufacturers, principles are being defined for describing reliability and robustness. Such methodology is required in order to identify and solve future challenges in the design process. In addition, the project partners are designing robustness analyses for inspecting the components with regard to their suitability for the intended area of application. Consideration will be given here to analog and digital circuits in the low-voltage range as well as high-voltage mixed-signal ICs and sensor systems.
