Project eeEmbedded

It is the goal of eeEmbedded that reliable energy analyses and statements with regard to investment cost amortization can be produced for the respective buildings. For this purpose the participating companies and research laboratories develop a "virtual lab" on the basis of building data modeling, taking into account the life cycle of the house. Planning, implementation, as well as user relevant data are included. The virtual lab is a global development and simulation platform which facilitates the design of energy-efficient buildings and their optimum energetic embedding with regard to surrounding buildings and energy systems. The efficiency of a building and its technical systems (heating, cooling, ventilation and control) can be predicted - and not only as a complete building, but also for individual sections.

A novel controlling and monitoring system supports the complex virtual design of a building with its numerous and differing domains. This holistic methodology is designed to steer and control the various steps in the design process. Energy simulations are possible right from the beginning, for optimization at an early stage. The market-readiness of the design and simulation platform will be tested with two pilot projects.

EU

eeEmbedded stands for "Collaborative Holistic Design Laboratory and Methodology for Energy-Efficient Embedded Buildings". The project was supported by the European Union within the Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration activities. The project team consists of software providers for architects, engineers and the construction industry, construction and planning companies specializing in energy efficiency, as well as two scientific organizations.
