About the EAS Division

Research for the Future

The EAS Division is part of the Erlangen-based Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS. In Dresden, the capital of the Free State of Saxony, roughly 90 employees are occupied with the question of how to improve the efficiency of designing increasingly complex electronic and mechatronic systems. This makes IIS/EAS one of the largest research institutions in the field of design automation in Europe.

We focus on the following fields of activity:

The division originated as part of the Central Institute of Cybernetics and Information Processes. In 1992, the research institute became a branch lab and in 2006 a division of IIS. With the exception of base financing amounting to less than 25 percent, the budget is financed primarily via contract research.
